Hope for the human race: Part 1a

Hey, it's Tempest. (Who else is it going to be? It's not like anyone took me up on my offer of using this blog) here to catch you up on some of the training that we did with SOLAR. I won't tell you everything, Ragnarok is going to do some, but I really want to tell you about the training matches.

So, Ragnarok brought his team over (Expect this 'quell' boy I've heard so much about, he 'doesn't DO training' or something, anyway he didn't come) and the old VHS members that were able to come (Playwrite and Diffy (Obviously), Don, and Tingle) and me all went down to what I like to call 'The training room'. Basically the shop has a basement, and I turned it into a room for us to practice our skills and keep our moves fresh.

Healthbar couldn't make it, but she texted me to say she'd sent us something to help. You know how her ability has that strong connection to the Sun? She'd sent us a sunbeam. It poured into the main room of the shop, filling it with a golden glow. She sent her power down it, making a beam of healing light for us, incase any injuries occurred. That girl never ceases to amaze me!

So, training. First there were a bunch of tips and tricks, we tried to teach power channeling (Sort of successful, wish Dragon had been there, Rag will explain), things like that, a lot of stuff we'd been taught, we did our best to pass on.

Then, we had the sparring sessions. First, Tingle suggested he had a one on one match against each of them. Incognito found this rather funny. 'Can't you only tell if someone's lying? No, I'm sorry, you 'See through concealment'. How can YOU win?'
'Isn't your power entirely based on concealment?'
'Oh..but I'm not lying, and I'm ALREADY SEE-THROUGH.'
'We'll see. Or...not...'
First:
Tingle v. Ragnarok: Challenger loses.
Yep, weird but true. I have to admit, I had no idea how this would work out. Neither did they for the first 30 seconds. They stood, facing off against each other, Rag unsure of how to start.
'It's not like I can, I dunno, absorb or become your power, it's not energy, is it? Uh, oh well, here goes...AAAAAArgh!'
He had grabbed Tingle's arm. Having grabbed exposed, bare arm, his hand instantly started to smoke, and he flinched away to see his palm was red and raw. Tingle winced.
'I should have guessed. Your power is a sort of warper, so my power would do it's 'Harry vs Quirrel' effect. Go and hold it in the sunbeam. Sorry.'
'Aaarh...not your fault. See you in a sec.'
As he rushed off, Tingle looked at the others. 'A lesson, I hope, to the rest of you. NEVER underestimate anyone. The simplest or mildest seeming of abilities can have hidden surprises.'
Tingle v. Skyblade: Challenger wins.
The guy can solidify air. Tingle doesn't have a way of beating that. Pinned against the wall by a solid slab of air. Ouch. That power may have really bad memories for VHS, but I have to admit, he's got some pretty good skills.
Tingle v. MaxMin: Draw.
MaxMin grew huge, but then had the same reaction as Ragnarok when he tried to hit Tingle. His body had been warped. Tingle's power can sense and combat warping, it's a form of changing of concealing. Counted as a draw because by the by the time MaxMin reacted, he'd already knocked Tingle to the floor.
Tingle v. Incognito: Challenger loses.
Duh. He became invisible, saying 'You'll see, I have the upper hand. All I have to do is not touch you.'
Tingle sighed. 'You are free try and grab me, you won't have the bad reaction, invisibility isn't warping the body, it comes under illusionary typing. You're over there.' With this he pointed, he'd been following the now invisible boy with his eyes the whole time, and seemed to have no problem locating him at all.
'Or am I?......Damnit!'
As we all focused on the area the voice had come from that Tingle was pointing at and Incognito realized his mistake, Tingle strode over and grabbed an invisible limb.
'You see? Fine. Oh, and-' he kicked out at what I assume was a shin, and there was a yell and a thud 'I win. Next!'
Tingle v. Glutton: Challenger wins
Long story short: The acid was gross and it finished when Glutton was poised to bite Tingle's ear off. He didn't of course, but it was clear that in a real fight he would have won.
Tingle beat two, lost to two, drew to one, but all five of them learnt valuable lessons.

Playwrite next. He was in a corner, reading, and didn't even look up when we asked if he wanted to go next.
'Playwrite? Want to go next?'
'What? Yeah, fine.'
'Want to do a one on one, or-'
'Nah, I can take all five at once, that's fine.'
'Ok.'
I grinned at SOLAR. 'Well, whenever you're ready.'
'Isn't he even going to stand up and stop reading.'
'Don't count on it.'
'Pfft, too easy!'
Only Rag looked nervous as they advanced. Seeing no sign of attack from Playwrite, the other four laughed and ran forwards. Playwrite calmly turned a page of his book.
Then Incognito popped suddenly back into sight, sighed, and fainted. MaxMin shrank to a few inches tall, and Skyblade, who was just behind him, froze and toppled straight onto him. Glutton turned as he ran to launch acid at Rag, and ran into the wall, while Rag, holding up his hands in protection, made a small 'hisssssss' noise as the acid struck, his hands glowed, and he dissolved completely, into a fizzing puddle of acid.
Playwrite turned another page. 'Yeeeeeeah, that was easy. Don't beat yourselves up though - I already did! Seriously though, I'm a tough opponent, don't worry about it.'

I'll leave it there for now, but it gets better, I promise. There is hope for the future of the human race.

A bit of a Reunion

Just had a call from Cleo, she's going to meet me after my lectures and we'll go over to the old base, meet up with Playwrite, Diffy, Pete, and Ragnarok (I know he has his own team now, but he's still part of our group. He was for many months of course, so there's still a sense of loyalty there.) Tildy's coming from london to offer help, and we're going to see if we can get to the bottom of this hand and syringes mystery. She and Cleone (They share memories) haven't heard from the others either. Blast seemed to really take to Cleone, I'm surprised she has kept in touch. I did an intense sweep of the blog, for unfinished drafts, deleted posts, anything, but no sign. Cleo did the same, came out blank too. I hope they're ok....

Ah well, see you at four Cleo. Lucky my really late one is canceled this week.

Day has dawned.

Nicely done newbies. Very lucky finding an invisible and a queller on the journey, but nicely done. I'm not saying starting up a new group of heroes just as we decide to hide (Rag, you got WHY I disbanded VHS, right?) But I must say, it's commendable how you're gathering lost souls and giving them a sense of purpose for their powers. Kudos, newbies, kudos.
In related news, I got a call from Healthbar during the incident, and she is maaaaaaaaaaaad! She doesn't take people stealing her sunlight well. I think she may hate this guy as much as Shade. Ouch.

Anyhoo, on my way to a lecture, so bye for now!

The twilight zone

Yes, people, the world is dark, with barely any light, and everyone's screaming and government teams are out searching because it's bound to be an evolved human, but don't worry, a crack team of specials are on their way to deal with it.
There was me, enjoying my day off, when it goes dark. Just as the sun was coming up. (I was up early, the life of a student, you know...) Ragnarok calls to check it's not just him, and we figure something is up. He gets a message at the base, some villain has tracked them down (I must see to that, can't have them being found) and as the active team in the area, he told them he had stolen the light from the world. (I checked, I think he'd heard about VHS, knew to look in cambridge, found SOLAR, when he got through to a high tech system, made the connection to me and went with it.)
So, I got them tickets, tracked down his fortress, and now three boys, one of whim can't yet fully control his temperamental power, one that still isn't quite settled into the hero life, and one who can't aim his power if he can't see are off to take on one of the most powerful villians we've come across.....

Maybe I'll keep my phone switched on, just in case.

Autoblog activated:0002

Hello. Blast here, giving an update on me and Cecil in London.
Firstly, we got a call at the flat from that Shockwave girl. She must have looked us up because only Tempest and Dragon have our number. She was worried about her friend, the new Rat, who, I dunno, hadn't turned up for shopping or something? She was speaking lousy broken English really fast so I didn't really follow. Anyways, she was going on about how nobody else answering, and how she'd been looking for ages with no sign of her friend, then was a crashing noise, she screamed, a deep voice muttered something, and the line went dead. Ah well, not my problem, I'm sure she's fine.
Oh, Cecil's just come in, signaling for me to be quiet, and pointing at the hall. Sweet kid really, bit dark at times, but considering what he went through before Dragon found him, it's not surprising. Looks like he want me to help with whatever scares him. Ah well, a gorgeous heroine's work is never done :P Later People!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back. Thought I'd leave this to post as one thing, because obviously, you're dying to know what was wrong, and hanging on my every word. :)

It was just some perv. He was at the door, in a dark hood, I couldn't even see his face, and he was all like 'You are Blast the Pig and Cecil the Dog, you are mine, you will come with me.' in a proper deep breathy whisper like a psycho. I have NO idea how he knew our names, but I'll get Tempest to scan for info on us and wipe it, to make sure no other wackjobs turn up. I told him where he could go (Cecil is here and Diffy may read this, so I'll spare you the precise words), told him he couldn't prove anything, and slammed the door in his face. Well, I tried to, I had to kick his foot away to close it. I don't think we'll see him again though. People like that just need to get the message that it's not going to happen. You lost, deal with it. Ah well, that's us. Bye for now I guess.

Hey, just noticed a post on this blog from the Freezeframe girl, our new Rat. She mentions a hoody creep too. Maybe we should take this guy seriou

Sandy

Hello, me again. Today I'll tell you what happened with Sandy, and a bit about my renovations of SOLAR's new base.
First Sandy. We met him in the field Ragnarok had indicated. He jumped and squealed when he turned and saw me and Pete nearly upon him in the setting sunlight, but received and was happy to see us once we introduced ourselves. He refused to shake hands, and I noticed something strange.
'I thought Ragnarok gave you gloves?'
'He did, but then I couldn't hold it in and I.....activated'
'And you...of course, we talked about that in the emails. Well, we can get rid of it for you if you like......'
'No!'
Pete had reached for his arm, but he recoiled before Pete grabbed him. 'Please, don't! I'm sorry, this was a bad idea. I should go.'
We convinced him to stay, and took him to Playwrite, who gave him a mental block to stop his power working until we can help properly. He's staying in a safe house at the moment.

I'll let Rag describe his base properly, but I fixed the place up, so I want to talk about it. Fresh coat of paint on the walls, (not that I really 'painted' in the conventional sense :P) fix some of the more broken bits of furniture, and of course, technology. Aside from the more mundane highly advanced equipment that Rag might tell you about, there were some defences I'm quite proud of.
'Each of you place your hand on here in turn' I instructed, indicating a screen outside by the door, hidden in a secret panel. 'I'm putting you in the system.'
'Wow, VHS's base didn't have this kind of security' said Ragnarok, having his hand scanned.'
'When we weren't being hunted by the world as freaks and hardly anyone knew about us? No, it did not. Have you tried getting in recently?'
'No........'
'Well don't, not everyone's in the system yet.'
'Uh, Tempest? I thought you said you were programming us in?'
'Skyblade, yeah? Yes I am.'
'But you're just standing there.'
'And that means I'm not programming?'
'Oh, ok. Wow.'
We went inside, to the room with large models of the planets hanging from the ceiling, as I chucked something at Ragnarok. 'Oh yeah, this is for you'
'Huh?'
'I promised you something to help control your power. Wear that, and your power's nulled. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Won't help hone your power when you use it, but it will stop involuntary reactions.'
'Oh, cool, thanks.'
'Take this too, for emergencies. It won't get blocked because they're separate objects. That'll give you the ability to breath out chlorine. Not enough to kill anyone, and it'll sting like hell, so only use in dire situations, but should floor anyone that's about to get you.'
'Woah, thanks.'
'Right, now this is important: Do not touch Mars, Saturn or Pluto. And don't touch this large, invitingly red button. I can activate the planets remotely, but this button only responds to chaos touch, and I gave it a check loop on a separate feedback matrix, so it can't be Technopathed.'

That's about it, more later.

Growing apart?

I gave the others access to this blog so they could record their own stories, but nobody's done it. Are we growing apart already? Maybe they don't want anything to do with our old lifestyle. I got a call from Healthbar the other day, and Don and I chat online all the time, but contact with some of the others has sort of faded out. It's like Shockwave and Freezeframe have vanished from the face of the earth, I haven't heard from either of them since they flew home. I hope everyone's ok.
