A touch of chaos, part 2

So, to recap. Everyone hiding from the world's new awareness of specials. Ragnarok reacted badly to a wasp while testing his power. Giant wasp on the loose in a crowded Cambridge. OH. DEAR.

We rushed outside to see what we could do, and saw that, apart from the occasional double take or half-gasp followed by a confused expression, everything seemed to be under control. Playwrite seemed to have stopped the panic, and nobody had any recollection of there having been a huge stripy monster zooming around over their heads moments before. We could still hear a loud buzzing, but Playwrite seemed to be trying to block that out too. A few people shook there heads, or swatted the air around them, and Playwrite winced. 'Too many people...in too wide an area...'. Broadcast waved his hand at the air, and then swept it slowly downwards. The buzzing faded, and Playwrite looked grateful. 'Thanks, that's one less thing for ME to block.'

Diffy was waving frantically at Ragnarok, who kept shifting into a cloud, or vanishing from sight, before flickering back into sight, surrounded by wisps of colour that sank into him.
'I fink his power's still working. He keeps chaosing my power, and wisping it away, which is mean!'

The buzzing increased again, and we saw several identical wasps burst into being around Ragnarok.
'Diffy! Stop trying to hide him? Your power's just helping him!'
'Hide the giant wasp, dont hide the giant wasp, make your mind up...'

Broadcast lowered the buzzing once more, and I thought desperately about how to solve this. We didn't even know which one was him now.

'Doolittle, can you try and communicate with him? It's still Ragnarok, he's just having a hard time fighting the gigantic wasp brain he's turned his into.'

She looked a bit nervous, but closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and a faint buzzing began to emanate from her.

'Right, now to weed out the fakes.' I swept a hand at the heavens, and then thrust both palms at the wasps. A flurry of snow descended and tore through the wasps, and out the other side, except for one, who batted at it with long spindly arms. The acted as though it wasn't there.
'Gotcha!'
'Snow? In june? Is that really going to help us hide?'
'Well didn't you see what happens with him and electricity? I could use lightning, but I prefer not to be roasted.'

We were distracted by Rag becoming a clear blue, with light streaming through him, and his wings began to make a faint chiming as they moved. He was still a giant wasp, but now he was made of ice.
'Huh, his power just doesn't give up, does it? This is why I don't want one.'
'This from they guy whose temporary ability didn't even give up when he died.'
'I made a good ghost. Besides, shut up Tingle.'
I grabbed Rag in a sort of wrap made of forcefield, and Doolittle opened her eyes.
'He was there, and called 'This is insane.' before there was a massive buzzing and I was shut off from him. He seemed to be fighting it though.'

Blast had run out of patience, and shot laser eye beams at Rag, which fizzled upon contact, and shot out of his eyes at her. Cecil leapt in front, taking the hit, and both of them were thrown against the wall of the alley. Ragnarok took the opportunity to escape the forcefield (my concentration slipped.) and head for the main street. Playwrite had clearly sent out the general idea that people, should leave, but I sent a roll of thunder, and some rainclouds ahead, and made a gust of wind knock over a chair outside a nearby cafe. The remaining people fled, and a huge ice wasp flying around in front of kings college went almost unnoticed, with Playwrite making sure nobody who saw anything remembered it.
I grabbed again with the forcefield wrap, but Rag dodged by diving towards us. 'Come on Rag, don't you recognize us?!' I yelled as I leapt to the side of his attack. He stopped short, shook his head frantically, and turned to us. 'Thizzzzzz izz vvvvery weirdz. hard to control. zzzzorry.' He struggled for a moment, and then seemed to disappear behind the wasp's mind again. He was about to take off, when Don grabbed a leg and held on with all his might. Diffy grabbed another, followed by Cecil, who'd made a full recovery, and Tingle. Rag was brought abruptly down to earth, his middle and back legs held fast, and although Diffy flickered in and out of vision, and a graze appeared on Cecil's cheek, everything seemed fine. I summoned another Forcefield and grabbed waspboy, just as his ice form finally wore off, and he was merely a gigantic wasp again. He swung his stinger madly, but we all stayed out of it's way. Cecil let out a cry and fell away from the leg he'd been holding, as steaming holes faded into his chest. The same holes he'd got from taking the laser blast earlier! Once he'd let go, they healed again, but he looked a year or two older. That slowly faded, but it was clear what Chaos touch did to RCR's. Ouch.

Centaur approached the struggling wasp, and placed his hand on it's side.
'What do you think you're doing?!' and other similar cries came from pretty much all of us. He creased his brow, and held up a finger for silence. Ragnarok seemed to bulge, and then sag, in ripples, and wings burst out of Centaur's back, before shrinking and fading, and his horse legs flickered madly between normal and hairy black. Ragnarok shifted, his middle legs shrank into nothingness, and his back legs became thicker, and more human.
'Kind of an expert at being half and half, I'm trying to shift the balance of power.' said Centaur as a bead of sweat ran down his face.
'I didn't know you could do that.'
'Neither did I, thought I'd give it a go.'
Doolittle nudged me in the ribs, and showed me a normal, small wasp crawling around on her hand. 'Look who I found while I was buzzing.'
'The original?'
'Yup.'
'Would it work?'
'Most things like this are connected to life force, Dragon told me.'
'Do you mind? I know you like animals.'
'Wasps are horrible, and I'm not sure anything else will be as final.'
'Fair enough.'
Rag was now half boy, half wasp. Human head with feelers and wasp eyes, human body with wings, legs partway between the two, and arms that were too long, thin, and dark.
'I can't do any more.' said Centaur sadly, standing back.'
'Wazzzzz happennnnninnnng? Said Ragnarok, bobbing up and down in the air.
'I hope this works.' I muttered as Doolittle released the wasp into the air. Everyone turned to see a thin streak of lightning shoot from my finger, like a bug zapper, and, well, zap the bug. I disintegrated into black dust, and Ragnarok jerked madly, falling to the ground as the wasp in him died.

'Thanks guys. That was very odd. I'm not doing that again.'

After Healthbar patched everyone up, (She can heal Rag too. Presumably, his chaos touch absorbs the power, but since that's what everyone does, it doesn't do anything but what it's supposed too?) we had to make sure nobody had escaped with any clue about our little adventure. The slightest rumour brings swarms of government agents down on you these day. (See what I did there? Giant wasp? Swarm? No? Suit yourself.) Cleone used a sense power thing to search for traces of thoughts about giant wasps, and I checked the web. One crazy nutter had posted a blurry photo on facebook, but now all it is is a cartoony picture of a beedrill (Large wasp pokemon, Rag's idea, genius) photoshopped over a picture of cambridge, titled 'lol'. I don't think anyone's going to believe him, do you?

Sorry, this took a while to do, Moira has revealed herself at last. She needs our help with something. More on that later.
